Finding queer advice in Bavaria

How to find qualified advice, sexual-health services and support.

Queer advice is not one uniform service. Some organisations work on coming out and identity, others on health, relationships, family, transition, violence or discrimination. Queeres Netzwerk Bayern organises specialists by region, subject and audience so you can search more precisely.

What support do you need?

  • Psychosocial advice on identity, relationships, family, loneliness or stress.
  • Health advice on HIV/STI, sexual health or Chemsex.
  • Support after discrimination and violence.
  • Age-appropriate youth and family advice.
  • Services for trans, intersex and non-binary people.

Assess a service

Read its audience and remit. Ask whether advice is free, confidential, anonymous and available in suitable languages or formats. Some work in person, others by phone, video or outreach. A reputable organisation explains where its responsibility ends.

Prepare a first conversation

You do not need a perfect label before seeking help. Counselling can organise questions. You may ask for an alternative when a person or method does not suit you.

  1. Note what is most difficult now.
  2. Write what you hope to understand afterwards.
  3. Ask about confidentiality, waiting time and cost.
  4. Initially share only information required for the issue.

Online, telephone or in person?

Online advice can reduce travel and visibility concerns in rural areas. In-person appointments offer a defined protected setting. Phone support is low-threshold for many but not accessible to everyone. Privacy, access, language and safety matter most.

Counselling is not emergency response

Call 110 in immediate danger and 112 for medical emergencies. If you believe anyone faces immediate harm, use emergency services. Regular advice can then help with interpretation, stabilisation and next steps.

GayBayern's role

GayBayern organises and links services but does not provide diagnosis, therapy, legal advice or crisis intervention. Confirm remit and current contacts at the original source so professional responsibility remains clear.
